Applications are now open for OCCU Board Director and Associate Director positions.

OCCU’s vision is to Enrich Lives. As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, every decision we make is intended to return value to our members and strengthen the communities we serve. Representing the membership, OCCU’s Board of Directors helps guide the Credit Union’s vision and direction while overseeing policy, governance, regulatory compliance, CEO accountability, and the safety and soundness of member funds.

We are looking for individuals who bring the right skills and character to Board service. Strong candidates offer relevant professional and leadership experience, live our values—humble, tenacious and big-hearted—and lead with a strong sense of purpose. They align with OCCU’s vision to Enrich Lives and bring a member-first, community perspective to the role. They listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, collaborate effectively, understand the distinction between Board governance and management, think strategically about the future, and serve with curiosity. They also maintain an engaged relationship with OCCU as a member and consider the needs of members across different financial circumstances, communities, life stages, and ways of accessing OCCU.

The Nominating and Development Committee is accepting applications for:

One (1) Board Director position and two (2) Associate Director positions. Board Directors are elected by the membership and vote on Board matters. They set direction, oversee strategy and risk, hold the CEO accountable, and protect the safety and soundness of member funds. Associate Directors are appointed rather than elected and do not vote. They attend Board meetings, serve on committees, and complete the same governance education as Board Directors.

For this cycle, the Committee is especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of four distinct priority areas: (1) legal, regulatory, compliance, ethics and policy; (2) IT, cybersecurity, data and AI oversight; (3) marketing, communications, community engagement and brand reputation; and (4) digital services, innovation and member experience. Applicants are not expected to have experience in every area. Candidates will be considered based on their overall qualifications, readiness for governance, independent judgment, member perspective, and commitment to ongoing learning and development.

Serving on the Board is a meaningful way to give back and help shape the future of a growing credit union committed to providing value to its members and the communities it serves. Review the duties, responsibilities, and service expectations for each role, then submit the appropriate application by Nov. 16, 2026.
