Personal certificate accounts

Watch your money grow

Grow your savings with the perfect balance of a secure return without a long-term commitment. With a certificate account, also known as a certificate of deposit or CD, you earn more interest than a savings account and will have access to your funds after a short-term fixed period.

Plan for the future

Secured investments and deposits are a crucial part of investment strategies and planning for the future. Since certificates earn guaranteed interest – you don’t have to worry about market volatility and you’ll have the peace of mind knowing your initial deposit is protected. Your interest is guaranteed as long as you leave the funds in for the full term.

High yield, low commitment

Take the guesswork out of planning for the future with any of OCCU’s certificate accounts. With an OCCU certificate you can rest easy knowing:

  • You’ll earn high interest rates.
  • Your deposit is insured by the NCUA.
  • There’s no risk to the principal deposit as long the certificate reaches maturity.

Certificate options from OCCU

OCCU’s certificates options were designed around your needs and future goals. We have options for members ready to invest the minimum balance of $500 to earn interest and options for serious savers with at least $100,000 to invest. If you have any questions about OCCU certificates, contact us to learn more and understand your options.

Regular certificates

Choose how long your savings will be earning higher interest. Terms can be as short as six months or as long as five years, when you invest at least $500.*

Jumbo certificates

For members with at least $100,000 to invest, jumbo certificate accounts earn even higher interest than our regular certificates.*

Pick your term certificates

We offer 6-month to 60-month terms for all our members. But, if you have a specific savings goal in mind and those set dates won’t work for you, OCCU’s Pick Your Term Certificate lets you choose any term between six and 60 months. Say you're saving for a vacation in 16 months. You're no longer limited to a 12-month certificate. Now you can earn higher-yield certificate rates right up to your vacation!

If the term is between The rate will be
6–11 months 6 month CD rate
12–17 months 12 month CD rate
18–23 months 18 month CD rate
24–35 months 24 month CD rate
36–47 months 36 month CD rate
48–59 months 48 month CD rate
60 months 60 month CD rate

Bump up certificate

Plan rising interest rates when you choose a bump up certificate from OCCU. If you notice that rates are higher than when you opened your 24-month or 48-month certificate, you’ll have the opportunity to increase your rate and make an additional deposit once during your term, up to the original principal balance.
