Board of Directors

The Oregon Community Credit Union Board of Directors is comprised of individuals who were elected by members to set the vision and direction of the credit union. Each Board member brings unique and valuable expertise to the strategic oversight of the credit union.

Bev Anderson

Chair

Bev began volunteering for OCCU as a Supervisory Committee member, then moved to Associate Director in 2003, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2006. She served as Secretary of the Board for five years and Vice Chair for two years before accepting the role of Chair in 2014.

Bev is an attorney, admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1995. She went into private practice focusing on general civil law. She then served as in-house counsel/CFO for Ad Group, Inc., specializing in acquisitions. In 2006, she again started her own private law practice, specializing in personal injury and domestic relations before moving to the role of CEO at Dove Medical (nonprofit corporation) in 2010.

Genevieve "Gen" Parker

Vice Chair

Gen was elected to the OCCU Board in 2007. Prior to joining the Board, Gen served as a member of the Supervisory Committee for eight years. She was Chair of the Supervisory Committee for two years. She is the current Board Vice Chair.

Gen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Linfield College. She holds a CPA license with the State of Oregon Board of Accountancy and a CGMA from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also a current member of the Oregon Society of CPAs and the AICPA.

Gen currently works for the Springfield Utility Board, where she is the general accounting manager. Prior to her current position, Gen worked in public accounting for 20 years.

Jeanine Jensen

Secretary

Jeanine joined OCCU as a Supervisory Committee member in 2011 and served as Chair of that committee in 2013. Jeanine then moved to an Associate Board Member role in 2014, and to a Board Director position in 2016.

Jeanine has over 16 years of in-depth knowledge and experience specializing in a full range of employee benefits, including individual and family health insurance plans. She holds her Health, Life and Consulting license and has received her Registered Health Underwriter and Chartered Healthcare Consultant designations. As part of the Pacific Benefit Consultants team, Jeanine works closely with a wide range of clients to assist them with the ever-changing world of health care reform. During her career, she has held many leadership positions in civic and nonprofit organizations.

John Gogol

Director

John was elected to the OCCU Board in 2017. Prior to joining the Board, John spent more than 16 years as a financial services professional, working for regional banks, an accounting firm, and Oregon school districts. In addition to his professional experience, John served five years as a volunteer board member and treasurer for the University of California, Los Angeles Student Federal Credit Union. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of California at Davis and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UCLA. John’s community service commitments include support of and participation in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure; building homes for Habitat for Humanity; and fundraising for the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento.

Jeremy Green

Director

Jeremy started with OCCU in 2013 as an Associate Board Member and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2014.

Jeremy is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He is an entrepreneur, educator/trainer, startup mentor and management consultant with expertise in manufacturing, quality, continuous improvement, strategic planning, project management, and risk management. His most recent work was as the Continuous Improvement Coordinator for Reliance CM in Corvallis. Jeremy has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, was a National Science Foundation Scholar in Engineering and has his Ph.D. from Indiana State University.

Bill Inge

Director

Bill began his relationship with OCCU in 1995 and joined the Board in 2013 as an Associate Board Member. In 2016 he became a Director Board Member. Prior to becoming a member with OCCU, he was a member of Rogue Federal Credit Union for more than 20 years.

In addition to his role with OCCU, Bill is currently a commissioner on the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission. He has served on the boards of Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Town Club of Eugene, and Pacific Northwest Textiles Services Association. For the past 20 years, Bill has been employed in the uniform and linen leasing industry as the general manager for Alsco. This past November, Bill celebrated 30 years of employment with Alsco.

Tom Larson

Director

Tom has been a member of OCCU since 1975. Tom served 10 years as a Supervisory Committee member and in 2009 served as Chair of that committee. Tom also served as an Associate Board Member from 2008 to 2011 when he was elected to the Board of Directors.

Tom retired in 2013 after a 38-year career as a business administrator at the University of Oregon, including the last 19 years as senior associate athletic director for finance and contracts during the Athletic Department's unprecedented years of success and budgetary growth. During this period the UO Athletic Department became one of less than a dozen self-supporting athletic departments in the nation. He was involved in the financial planning and presentation of multimillion-dollar expansion projects to the state legislative Ways and Means Committee. His career included internal audit, state contracts, and systemwide accounting conversion projects.

Nicholas "Nick" Balthrop

Associate Director

Nick began volunteering with OCCU as an Associate Board Member in August 2016. Nick is an attorney with the Eugene-based law firm of Gaydos, Churnside & Balthrop, P.C., and was admitted to practice in Oregon in 2015. He practices in a variety of areas, including commercial disputes, landlord-tenant, intellectual property, and bankruptcy. He is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law. Nick is passionate about traveling and engaging in community activities. He has served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Nuremberg, Germany, and volunteered with a community development program in Ngong, Kenya.

Jessica C. Bonin, CPA

Associate Director

Jessica served as an OCCU Supervisory Committee member during 2015-16. She is a self-employed certified public accountant licensed by the Oregon Board of Accountancy. With 13 years’ experience in public accounting, she specializes in tax planning, tax preparation and business advising for local small businesses. Jessica is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Oregon.

Ron Neumann

Treasurer

Ron is a forward-thinking leader who is committed to bringing value to OCCU’s members and employees. He has been a member of the OCCU Leadership Team since 2010, having had oversight of organizational areas including lending, credit, finance, technology, risk management, security and human resources. His team-centered approach has allowed OCCU to further enhance the member experience through new technologies and security tools, as well as the introduction of new strategic planning and financial management processes.

He adds a background of innovation, collaboration and strategy to the OCCU team with more than 20 years of experience in large domestic and international manufacturing organizations. Prior to joining OCCU, Ron was President of Neumann Management Group, Inc., a consulting firm providing business solutions for clients throughout the Northwest.

Ron’s strong commitment to community involvement includes serving on the United Way of Lane County Board of Directors. He also serves as a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Northwest Credit Union Association and sits on the CU Benefits Alliance Board of Directors.

Ron received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

On behalf of the member-owners of the Credit Union, the Board of Directors is responsible for the safety and
soundness of member funds. The Board accomplishes this oversight by creating, reviewing and improving
credit union policies, strategic planning, CEO accountability, financial governance and regulatory compliance. 

The Board of Directors sets the strategic direction for the credit union, and the Supervisory Committee acts as our members’ representative in monitoring operations of the credit union.
