Invest in you and grow your future
At OCCU we believe in investing in yourself to grow your financial profile and future, and our experienced Investment Services team is here to help you get started. Similar to your physical health, your financial health can improve by just starting with a manageable task or in this case an investment that’s within your personal budget. In other words, you don’t have to have a large sum of money to invest, so long as you start!
We refer to those who are new to the world of investing as - have income, not rich yet! One thing that is often recommended for clients in this category is what we call our Intelligent Portfolios.
So what are Intelligent Portfolios?
Intelligent Portfolios are automated investment management platforms. But at OCCU, instead of stock picks chosen by algorithm and customer service provided by a hotline, the portfolios are managed by our local advisors. Clients of our Investment Services team have the full support of meeting with their advisor (in person) to review their account, goals and risk tolerance. Our products are competitively priced and require lower cash held amounts.
What do I need?
$5K minimum to start, no maximum.
If you don’t have $5K don’t panic, you can still choose to chat with one of our financial advisors or work with OCCU’s enrichment advisors and create a savings goal with our Ignite Savings account or an individual retirement account (IRA).
Low personal debt to income ratio (DTI).
Not there right now? Any of our branch staff would be happy to help you work through a solution to lower your DTI.
Self-employed who want to take advantage of the tax benefits as well as saving for their future retirement needs.
Our Intelligent Portfolios could potentially benefit anyone beginning their investment journey but could have additional benefits for the self-employed.
A savings goal!
The Intelligent Portfolio is ideal for those looking to save for a long-term goal. It could potentially benefit anyone beginning their investment journey, but could have additional benefits for the self-employed.
If your goal is less than a year down the line, you may be better suited for one of our other savings accounts.
Got it. So how do I start? Set an appointment with one of our financial advisors today and they can help you determine how much to invest, what your financial goals are and what investments align with your values.
Read up. Our Investment Services team is here to help you, of course. But it never hurts to read up on some of the basics of investing so you can go into your freshly scheduled meeting with the confidence you need to make smart and informed decisions.
